Distinction between 2017\/18 and from 2019 onwards: The two engines are externally the same but the communication system becomes encrypted from 2019. Yamaha has chosen to invert the sex of the connectors to avoid mounting old displays on new engines where they would not work. This is also the reason why we had to produce two different versions of Ribelle.<\/p>\n

The 2019 engine is recognized because it normally mounts the “A” sideswitch and “C” displays.
\nA unique way to distinguish it is to check the sex of the 5-way connector that connects the display (see image below).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What is SpeedFun RIBELLE?<\/h2>\n

SpeedFun RIBELLE is an electronic and smart speed release device that needs no external power.<\/p>\n

It is designed for use with YAMAHA PW-X and PW-SE 2017-18 motors, to circumvent the 25km\/h speed limit and allow for an increase in its active assistance up to speeds that can exceed 60km\/h (info<\/a>) by exploiting the motor’s power to the full.<\/p>\n

SpeedFun RIBELLE always shows real speed and mileage on the display of your Ebike even with activated speed release.<\/p>\n

SpeedFun RIBELLE is equipped with a self-learning system to store all the parameters of the ebike on which it is mounted. Therefore no setting is necessary. Only a short initial sequence and then you can only think about having fun!<\/p>\n

Speedup RIBELLE is assembled in a very simple way interposing it between the speed sensor and the motor and between the Display and the motor using original connectors that do not alter the characteristics of electrical resistance and watertightness.<\/p>\n

SpeedFun RIBELLE does not modify the electronics of the Yamaha engine in any way that can be restored at any time and in a few minutes to the factory configuration and leaves no trace of its installation either physical or even in the ebike software. This allows the guarantee and the effective commercial value of the bicycle to remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

The operation system starts operating only when the 16 kmH is reached, progressively reducing with a particular algorithm the communication of the wheel revolutions to the engine without the cyclist noticing any difference in assistance. It does not intervene in any way at low speeds. This is an important precaution designed not to vary the parameters of the engine intervention at the restart and in important climbs, (which are the critical and most delicate moments for an engine) thus leaving intact the parameters studied and optimized by the manufacturer, and thus avoiding loss of power, failures or \u201chiccup\u201d operations that instead occur with the release systems of other manufacturers.<\/p>\n

SpeedFun RIBELLE can be activated and deactivated with a simple simply pressing the ebike light button. A feedback is shown on the display each time the activation or deactivation status is changed.<\/p>\n

RIBELLE allows the millimetric setting of the wheel circumference starting from 20\u2033 for a very precise calculation of speed and distance even if you had to replace the tire with one of different section from the original. Normally this possibility is not offered by the original Yamaha system.<\/p>\n

ATTENTION, Rebel is installable with the following limitations:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1: Can not be mounted on Haibike models with E: I-Shock electronic shock absorber system<\/p>\n

2:\u00a0Not suitable for Yamaha Sinc Drive engines mounted on Giant bicycles (for Giant, see Ribelle SpeedFun for Giant or click here<\/a>)<\/p>\n

3. It is not suitable for Yamaha PW-X, PW-X2, PW-SE, PW-TE, PW-ST from 2019 onwards engines with sideswitch display and “C”\u00a0display.
